Gramps is Little Lotta's grandpa. Her father's father.
Gramps is old and a lot of the stories involving him revolve around how old he is and the difficulties that creates.
In "Grandpa Rides Again" from Little Lotta #60, Gramps shows Lotta a pair of skates he won in the Silver Skates Championship, and they were inscribed "S.S. Smith, Silver Skates Champion, 1888". In "Oh, My Achin' Back !" from Richie Rich Gold & Silver #20, Dr. Akely and Dr. Tibia called Lotta's grandpa "Mr. Smith". So there's evidence to suggest that Gramps' last name is Smith.
